Rich winter colour for your favourite shaded spot in the garden. This stunning camellia has deep red buds that open into red-pink shaded blooms, above glossy dark evergreen foliage. Japonica type, so prefers cooler shadier situations than our sasanqua camellias.

Camellia japonica 'Black Tie'

APPEARANCE : Compact growing variety featuring double distinctively geometric deep red buds that open into deep red-pink flowers. Japonicas are good camellias for southern states as they prefer a cooler less humid climate than sasanquas.
USE IN : Perfect for hedging, screening and feature planting.
LOCATION : Plant in well drained soil in a partly shaded position in the garden. Protect from harsh afternoon sun and strong winds.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Continue to water on a regular basis for the first twelve months to ensure the plant becomes fully established. Prune after flowering to promote dense growth habit and flowering. Fertilise using a slow release fertiliser specific to camellias in spring.
