Cordyline australis 'Red Star'

APPEARANCE :  A fountain of slender fairly stiff strappy leaves, dark plum--red, emerging from a central trunk.
USE FOR : Great as a contrasting plant for a bold statement in the garden or massed together for a splash of colour. Suitable for pots.
CLIMATE : Surprisingly tolerant of dry conditions but growth is restricted in these conditions. Should come through an overnight frost once established.
PLANTING : Cordylines are surprisingly hardy and worth a go in most protected areas but will prefer full sun to part shade.  Plant in a well drained soil, mulch and fertilise when planting.
CARE :  Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Remove any dead foliage and cut back in spring if plants become tall.  Cutting foliage off is fine as the plant will regrow from the stem.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2 m H x 1.2m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
