Curcuma australasica 'Aussie Gem' - miniature ornamental ginger, Cape York lily

DESCRIPTION: Native flowering ginger with lush foliage and a compact habit. Flowers last many weeks on the plant and have an extended vase life making them perfect for creating a bright tropical vibe indoors.
USE IN: Ideal for tropical style gardens, pots and underplanting in areas of dappled light. Potted plants may be taken indoors for short periods, try rotating plants where possible so each gets plenty of exposure to sunlight.
LOCATION: Plant in free draining soil in a sun-part shade location in a sheltered position in the garden.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Water regularly during dry periods. Plants will die back during winter but don't be tempted to remove untidy leaves until they are completely brown, the nutrients from the leaves are drawn back into the rhizome for next season. At the first sign of new shoots appearing apply liquid fertiliser. Come summer your ginger will be bursting with vibrant leaves and flowers again. Protect from wind and frost.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: Up to 0.5m H x 0.5m W.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 12cm high and 5cm wide.
