Dichorisandra thyrsiflora - blue ginger

APPEARANCE: Tropical plant from central and south America with broad glossy green leaves, clusters of bright purple-blue flower spikes during autumn.
USE IN: Ideal used in moist shaded and brighter areas of the garden. Suited to containers.
LOCATION: Plant in well drained loamy soil in a partly shaded, sheltered position in the garden. Will grow in full sun but this may scorch leaves. Protect from frost, keep above 5C.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Water regularly during dry periods. Cut back stems after flowering, fertilise with an organic fertiliser during spring.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1.5 - 2 m H x 1 m W.
