Eucharis grandiflora - Amazon lily

DESCRIPTION: Subtropical leafy plant native to South America. Long broad glossy dark green leaves which arch like a fountain. Long stems topped with clusters of large narcissus-like white and pale green flowers, with a sweet scent, appear intermittently through the year.
USE IN: Indoor houseplant for well-lit and part-shaded areas. Suited to underplanting and part-shade in warm climates.
PLANTING: Plant in sheltered position, avoid direct sunlight which might scorch the leaves.Thrives in humid shady climates with plenty of rainfall. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Protect from frost and provide water during dry periods.
CARE: Water only when soil begins to dry, gently push your finger into the soil to test for moisture. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. For indoor plants - wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth if you notice them collecting dust and spritz with a hand sprayer, this will refresh the foliage to its glossy finish. Re-pot container plants at the beginning of spring.

YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 80mm high and 42 mm wide. Your plants may be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on.
