APPEARANCE : Hardy Australian native tree ideal for creating shade in large gardens. Flowers are cream coloured & bird-attracting, appearing spring to late summer followed by large attractive star shaped seed pods. This QLD native grows happily in botanic gardens in Sydney, Albury-Wangaratta-Benalla, and Adelaide.
USE IN: Plant as a feature, shade tree or privacy screen. Popular street tree for its rounded growth habit and non invasive roots. Use seedpods for christmas decorations and dried flower arrangements.
LOCATION: Sunny/part shade position is ideal. Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter.
CARE: Mulch and water well until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Tip prune while young to establish dense growth, and fertilise with slow release native fertiliser during spring. Tolerates light frost.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 8-12m H x 5-7m W, up to 25-30 metres high in its natural habitat.
