Humata tyermannii - davallia, rabbit's foot fern

DESCRIPTION: Large lacy foliage with rich green colour. Distinctive "furry" aerial roots which grow over the sides of the pot.
USE IN: Tropical garden settings as a border or for creating depth using layers in under planting. Suited to containers and indoor gardens.
PLANTING: Plant carefully ensuring the crown of the fern is above the soil line. Ensure the growing medium is well drained to avoid wet feet. Remove old fronds to keep plants looking fresh and avoid disease. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks.
CARE: Protect from frost and keep moist during dry periods. Ferns thrive in humid conditions. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. Re-pot every 2 - 3 years to keep soil fresh and full of nutrients. The best time to pot is in the cooler months when the plant is dormant.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  15 - 50 cm H x 50 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide. May be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on.
