Hymenocallis littoralis - spider lily

APPEARANCE : Upright growing strappy leaf bordering plant with lightly scented white flowers. Flowers are distinctively 'spider' shaped - long curled petals around a central disc. Grows in clumps naturally.
USE FOR : In groups as a mass display of flowering colour along borders and pathways. Suitable for large pots. As ground cover below shady trees; or in full sun.
CLIMATE : Frost free, humid
PLANTING: Spider lilies prefer moist conditions, and are suited to coastal and wet areas around water features and low lying areas of the garden - 'littoralis' means 'of the seashore'. Plant in full sun to part shade. They're also approved by the Fire Service for planting near houses as they have low flammability.
CARE: Mulch and water well, especially during dry periods. If plants become crowded, simply dig out excess plants and plant elsewhere or share with the neighbours!
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 80cm H x 1 m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
