Metrosideros thomasii - New Zealand Christmas Bush

DESCRIPTION: Shrub to small tree with soft new growth at most times of the year, lime green maturing through silver to light green. Open tidy habit. Fluffy vibrant orange-red pincushion flowers in spring-summer
USES: Salt and wind tolerant for sea side planting, bird attracting and makes a great hedge or on its own as a specimen plant.
PLANTING: Plant in full sun for rich foliage colour and prolific flowering. Tolerates part shade. Thrives in free draining soil.
CARE: Well drained clay loams or sandy soil with a neutral to acid pH. Tolerates dry conditions. Prune lightly following after flowering is finished. Fertilise with native-plant fertiliser early spring and at planting.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 3-5m H x 5m W.
