APPEARANCE : Hardy low-growing ground cover with green-purple foliage and violet-blue flower spikes. Dense spreading growth habit. Leaf colour changes through the seasons and with light levels. Catlin's Giant has larger leaves than other varieties and very tall flowerstems, up to 30cm tall, and produced in abundance. RHS Award of Garden Merit
USE FOR : Mass planting, underplanting in shade or beneath trees, cottage gardens, in deep shade, patio and balcony pots, for beneficial pollinators.
CLIMATE : Completely frost hardy. In high humidity (north of SE QLD) plant in an open airy location in free-draining soil, and divide plant clumps every few years.
PLANTING : Plant in moist soil rich in organic matter. will grow in deep shade though leaf colour may be greener and flowering somewhat reduced.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Water regularly during dry periods. Plants can be deadheaded by whippersnipping or mowing with the blades raised high.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 10-15 cm H (20-30cm in flower) x 50-100cm W.
