Dainty bell flowers like fairy skirts, on tall upright stems. Happy in shade, or sun in cooler regions. Plant these bright bi-colour columbines in a mixed border or try in clusters scattered through the garden for cottage garden appeal. Taller than McKana Hybrids.
Aquilegia vulgaris 'Long Spurred Hybrids' - granny's bonnet, columbine
DESCRIPTION: Tall bi-colour bell-like flower spikes with long spurs (the 'tails' behind the bells) in a colourful pastel mix above deep green ferny foliage. Popular in cottage gardens and as a charming cut flower.PLANTING: Summer and Autumn. Sow seeds directly into garden beds or pots, cover with a thin layer of soil and keep moist. Plant in free draining soil in a sunny to shaded location protected from strong winds.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. Remove spent flowers and apply liquid fertiliser regularly for prolific flowering and plant health.
