Asparagus uc517
DESCRIPTION: Tall ferny perennial vegetable harvested for its firm young shoots. This variety is an F2 hybrid.
PLANTING: Sow direct outside in early Spring and cover seed to 20mm. Sun, well drained neutral pH soil, and lots of organic matter is best - about one bucket per square metre.
CARE:  Water your seedlings while they are young to help them establish. Water regularly to keep growing strong. Keep the bed weed-free and pick off any snails or beetles. Leave foliage to yellow in autumn and cut down to soil level for winter. Mulch generously and apply 100g of slow release fertiliser per square metre in the spring of the second year on.
