Description

Callistephus chinensis 'Tower Chamois' - Chinese aster

DESCRIPTION: Cold-hardy bedding plant; long stems with large showy flowers in shades of peach-pink. Plants have an upright habit but may tend to sprawl a little as flowers mature. Trim long flower stems and bring indoors to enjoy as a cut flower.
PLANTING: Spring and Summer, for hotter parts of Australia winter planting is recommended. Sow seeds directly into garden beds or pots, cover with a thin layer of soil and keep moist. Plant in free draining soil in a full sun to partly shaded location. Tolerates frost once established.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water regularly especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. Remove spent flowers and apply liquid fertiliser regularly for prolific flowering and plant health.
