Sun loving groundcover-climber-hedge. Looks delicate, grows tough. Hardy enough for planting on median strips and city spaces; pretty enough for any cottage garden. Noosa Botanic Gardens has a large hedge of this at the entrance, shown in one of the images.
Bauhinia corymbosa - orchid vine
DESCRIPTION: Sub-tropical evergreen climber/groundcover suited to sunny spots with moderate water. Covered with pink-white orchid-shaped blooms early summer.USE IN: Groundcover in areas where weeds are a problem; cascading down embankments; as an informal hedge.
LOCATION: Plant in a full sun/part shade position in the garden in well drained soil.
CARE: Plant in well drained soil in a full sun position for bountiful flowers. Train and stake as required and trim to shape after flowering. Tolerates dry conditions and light frost once established.
HEIGHT AND WIDTH: 3m H x 3m W. Much lower if kept as a ground cover - will clip to 50cm if required.
