Begonia rex T-Rex™ 'Ruby Slippers'

DESCRIPTION: Exotic foliage plant with very large heart-shaped, deep metallic red leaves with a black heart. Selected as 'Best Novelty' in the 2019 Annual Trial at Colorado State University. Mature Begonia T-Rex™ plants have been tested in Australia at 40°C+ and survived a winter of 3°C in protected conditions.
USES: Popular houseplant in warm humid rooms. Striking hanging basket or container plant for summer. Ideal outdoor underplanting in shaded and semi-shaded tropical gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in a shaded or semi-shaded frost-free location with filtered light or indirect sunlight. Begonia rex appreciates a humid atmosphere so if the air is dry, give it a light mist spray with water.
CARE: Water lightly but regularly during the first 12 weeks or until the plant is established. Avoid over-watering or over-feeding Begonia rex. Apply liquid fertiliser at half dilution every 8 weeks for best results. Foliage may die back during the cooler months when plants become dormant. Avoid feeding and reduce watering until plants develop new leaves. Repot during spring only if plants become rootbound. Protect from frost.

YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide. May be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on.
