Callistemon Prolific
Prolific is a form of Callistemon viminalis that flowers... well, prolifically!
Clusters of red bottlebrush flowers hang from its weeping stems, they start off deepest scarlet and age with a gentle blush of orange to vermilion red. They will be abuzz in spring and summer with beneficial pollinators. (see how many you can spot in the photos...)
Great all-round native tree, grows in soils that are clay or sand, acid or alkaline, dry or wet, at the southern coast or subtropical hinterland.
Callistemon viminalis 'Prolific' - bottlebrush
APPEARANCE : Gently weeping tree form of the species bottlebrush, originally found in Dalby QLD. Slender leaves, weeping habit, clusters of red bottlebrush flowers at the ends of the branches. Fast growing with a dense habit.USE FOR : In native gardens to attract birds. Ideal as a clipped hedge or feature tree, wind break, street tree, in coastal gardens.
PLANTING: Very hardy and forgiving in all types of soil. Prefers full sun but will tolerate dappled shade.
CARE: Prune after flowering if necessary, and feed with a native fertiliser.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 4 - 6m H x 2 - 4m W.
