Calothamnus quadrifidus prostrate - one-sided bottlebrush
APPEARANCE: Low-spreading with fine green foliage and bright red 'one sided' bottlebrush flowers, perfect for adding colour and texture to rockeries, slopes, or as a striking groundcover. Calothamnus is derived from Greek words meaning "beautiful shrub".
ORIGIN : Native across south western WA
USE FOR : Wildlife gardens, native gardens, cottage gardens, informal hedging, honeybees. A favourite of honeyeater birds.
CLIMATE: Great for dry or temperate spots, it handles coastal weather, light frosts, and summer drought once settled in.
PLANTING : Plant in full sun or part shade in well-drained soil; it grows best in sandy or loamy soils but adapts to clay with good drainage.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Pruning annually after flowering will help improve density and encourage more flowers next year; cut back to just above the current year's growth, avoiding old woody parts. Fertilise with a slow release native fertiliser in spring and autumn.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH: .5m H x 2m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
