Bring a little Aussie Christmas tradition into your home and garden. Alberys Red is an early variety - the warmer your region, the earlier the red bracts and tiny white starry flowers appear, from spring through midsummer. Fantastic as a cut flower for wreaths and arrangements.

We propagate our Christmas bush immediately after flowering. This means it is usually available from late summer-autumn only (an ideal time to plant!) If it is out of season, please put your email in the notification box and we will message you when the annual batch of plants is ready for sale.

Ceratopetalum gummiferum 'Alberys Red' - NSW Christmas bush

APPEARANCE : Bushy evergreen tree. A traditional part of our Aussie Christmas celebrations, because of its white flowers set in red bracts which traditionally appear in December. The foliage is also striking with each leaf made up of three serrated lobes which are a soft green, copper when young.
ORIGIN : Native to NSW
USE FOR : Native gardens or as a specimen tree.  Ideal in pots for that seasonal Christmas spirit. Lovely cut flower.
CLIMATE : Frost tolerant once established, grows well in Canberra
PLANTING : Thrives in light well-drained soil in a sunny to partly shaded position. La Niña cycles with cooler summers and regular rainfall give the longest flowering season.
CARE :  Prune after flowering to promote new flowering stems; prune to shape the outline; or to cut flowering branches for decoration
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 4m H x 2m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
