Slowgrowing easygoing conifer that will be a beautiful potted plant or mini Christmas tree for years before it gets too big and needs planting out. Alternatively plant it out - it's happy almost anywhere - and it probably won't need any more attention in your lifetime. Blue-green foliage flushes red-purple in cold weather, which is cheerful.
Chamaecyparis thyoides 'Red Star' - white cedar

APPEARANCE : Dwarf slowgrowing conifer with dense fluffy-looking blue-green foliage that turns a deep reddish-purple in cold winters.
USE FOR : Perfect for low hedging or feature planting. Try growing in a container and use as an alternative Christmas tree.
PLANTING : Plant in full sun. Grows well in well-drained acid to neutral soil. The parent plant can tolerate wet soil but you might want to test this out. Totally frost hardy to Antarctic levels.
CARE:  Mulch and water well during dry periods. Otherwise carefree.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 1m H slowly x 0.5m W
