Cistus Alan Fradd – rock rose
Cistus are ideal plants for Aussie climates - they love sun, are frost and drought tolerant, grow in almost any soil type, thrive in the dry Mediterranean air of southern states and don't seem to mind the humidity of the southern east coast either.
They'll flower their socks off in the warmer months, healthy and robust, and needing little attention from you.
Alan Fradd is a handy metre-round compact size to fit in any garden; those big tissue-paper flowers, golden-eyed, sport a pentagon of dramatic maroon spots to guide in local bees.
