Not a lime, actually a cross between a mandarin and a lemon, the Rangpur lime is easy to peel and very juicy. You might want to save the juice for the kitchen though, as the fruit is sour like a lemon. It smells very sweet and floral, is a rich orange colour, and makes excellent marmalade, dessert pies, sauces and glazes for savoury dishes, and cocktails. (Try one part juice, two parts Grand Marnier, three parts tequila, over ice; or with gin. BRB we're off to the bottle-o...)

Citrus reticulata x medica, Citrus x limonia - Rangpur lime, mandarin lime
APPEARANCE : Fast growing thorny citrus tree with deep green leaves, more cold tolerant than true limes. Fruit is sour, pippy, with a thin peel and deep orange floral-zesty juice. Fragrant leaves can also be used like kaffir lime leaves for cooking. These plants are seed-grown.USE IN: Feature planting, orchards and kitchen gardens, privacy hedging.
PLANTING: Plant in full sun and well drained soil; they do not like getting their roots wet. Needs a temperature over 5C and a temperature change between summer and winter for best fruiting. Very heat tolerant. Will grow in fairly alkaline soils but alkaline water may cause yellowing of the leaves; treat with citrus-specific plant food if this occurs.
CARE: Prune to desired height if necessary; any seasonal pests can be treated with eco-oil or similar.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 4.5 m x 3 m.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
