It's not a native but you'd never know it! A lovely winter-flowering shrub for coastal gardens, with pretty white flowers, aromatic fine foliage. It likes sunny spots and sandy soil, and is great for attracting beneficial insects and keeping away the bad ones. Larger size plant to get your garden off to a fast start. Coleonema album - white diosmaDESCRIPTION: Evergreen shrub with bushy heath-type aromatic foliage and starry white flowers autumn to spring, which are both a lure to beneficial insects. South African in origin but has naturalised happily in VIC.
USES: Native gardens, coastal gardens, wildlife gardens, winter gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in a sunny position in well drained acid soil; avoid planting coleonemas in midsummer. Protect from frost and don't let young plants dry out.
CARE: Mulch to keep the roots cooler in summer, and water well while plants are establishing. Trim lightly after flowering to promote new growth and compactness. Feed with a controlled release native fertiliser after flowering to keep it healthy and free-flowering
