This lemon-scented conifer makes a superlative windbreak, and the wood is excellent for fence posts and warm winter fires. It likes to be constantly bathed in cool coastal fog - if you can't reproduce these conditions in your back garden, it's fortunately very tolerant in what it will put up with, providing summers are not too hot and dry.
