Clove pinks have been prized for centuries for their sweet-spicy scent and pretty little pink flowers. Did you know we get the word for the colour pink from the plant? It refers to the zigzag edges of the petals. Lionheart has flowers in two shades of pink, pale pink overlaid with markings of deeper pink on every petal.

Images showthe range of colour patterns you can expect - actual flowers may vary in ratio of light and dark pink areas

Dianthus 'Lionheart' - pink

APPEARANCE:  Annual, biennial, short-lived perennial depending on how it like the conditions. Grey-green stems, distinctive curled slender leaves, flat open flowers with a sweet-spicy clove scent. Lionheart has flowers in two shades of pink, pale pink overlaid with markings of deeper pink on every petal.
USE IN: Summer bedding, pots and containers, front of mixed beds.
LOCATION: Plant in full sun to part shade. Likes a loamy sandy free-draining neutral soil for best results. Completely frost-hardy and drought tolerant once mature.
CARE:  Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Regular feeding promotes healthy growth; deadhead any spent flowers you haven't cut to enjoy indoors. Cut all stems back to half in autumn after flowering has finished, and add some fertiliser for a second round of blooms.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  35 cm H x 30 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, young healthy plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide.
