Eucalyptus erythronema 'Hot Threads' - red flowered malleeAPPEARANCE :Small native west coast flowering gum with a waxy white bark which matures to pink-red; it may have a single trunk or, in mallee fashion, a small clump of trunks. Leaves are smallish and olive grey-green. Large deep red tufty flowers appear between July to February depending on location; "erythro-nema" means red-thread.
USE FOR : Ornamental garden tree, feature shrub when coppiced, wildlife gardens, for flower arranging and floristry.
PLANTING : Plant in free-draining neutral soil in full sun to part shade; it prefers low humidity but give it a go to test its adaptability.
CARE : Stake and protect from strong wind and frost until the plant is established. Apply mulch and continue to water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks and regularly during extended dry periods.
HEIGHT : 5 - 7m H x 3 - 5m W
