Eucomis comosa 'Sparkling Burgundy' - pineapple lily

DESCRIPTION: From the centre of a rosette of sword-shaped leaves emerges a thick stem topped with a flower spike strongly resembling a pineapple. This variety has deep burgundy purple leaves and coordinating maroon buds which open to pink flowers.
PLANTING: Happiest in sunshine and rich soil, can cope with boggy conditions
USE IN: Ideal for sunny borders, feature planting, large containers. Excellent cut flowers
CARE: Once planted, water the soil to set the bulb in place. Water and feed weekly; or if the soil becomes dry, give a good deep water. Once flowering is finished leave plants to die back, it's not the prettiest sight but don't be tempted to trim the yellowing foliage. The nutrients are being drawn back into the bulbs for next year. Mulch in winter if you have frost or low temperatures.
CLIMATE: Hardy to -5C in sheltered sites - plant deeper in cold locations, more shallow in mild ones
