Weeping figs are very popular plants for indoors in the home and as office plants as they are light and airy, bringing nature inside without feeling like you live in a jungle. Benji has bright variegated foliage throughout the year, and a compact size when container-grown.

We love Benji for his bright leaf colour, tolerance of shade, and air-cleaning abilities

Ficus benjamina 'Benji' PBR - variegated weeping fig

APPEARANCE : Weeping native tropical fig with glossy green oval leaves with variegated edges ranging from white to pale green. Compact, bushy habit. In gardens it can make a large elegant tree with fruit loved by doves.
USE FOR :  Ideal plant for pots indoors and outside on verandas, balconies, in the garden and workplace. Cleans the air. Train as a potted standard (with a single trunk), topiary, or bonsai. Plant outside in large acreage gardens to attract birds and provide dappled shade - it can grow to a large tree (approx 10-15 m) with invasive roots when planted outside; but if you are on a large property it will grow to a magnificent feature tree. Plant as a formal clipped hedge, which will also reduce the root spread.
PLANTING :  Grows in a diverse range of environmental conditions, including hot, humid tropics in the north to cool temperate areas in southern states. It will grow in full sun to full shade and requires good filtered light if grown indoors. Avoid planting outside in small gardens or close to structural walls and pipes.
CARE :  Mulch and water with a seaweed based fertiliser on planting to reduce transplant shock, follow with regular watering until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Will benefit from a yearly application of slow release fertiliser applied in Spring. Pruning is not necessary but can be done to maintain a more compact form. Weeping figs don't like being moved, or changes in light or watering regimes, and can drop leaves in shock. These will grow back.
HEIGHT & WIDTH :  Up to 2 m H x 1.5 m W. when grown in containers. .
YOUR PLANTS : These plants are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide. You can see an example in the image gallery
