Flindersia australis - crows ash, teak pod
DESCRIPTION: Hardy Australian native ideal for creating shade in large gardens. Flowers are cream coloured & bird attracting appearing spring to late summer followed by attractive star shaped seed pods. Use them for christmas decorations and dried flower arrangements.USE IN: Plant as a feature, shade tree or privacy screen. Popular street tree for its rounded growth habit and non invasive roots.
LOCATION: Sunny/part shade position is ideal. Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter.
CARE: Mulch and water well until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Tip prune while young to establish dense growth, and fertilise with slow release native fertiliser during spring. Tolerates light frost.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 8-12m H x 5-7m W, up to 25-30 metres high in its natural habitat.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
