Chamelaucium uncinatum - Geraldton wax
DESCRIPTION : Large open fine-leaved native shrub to around 2m; with clusters of small cup-shaped flowers in shades of white, pink, pale purple that appear in winter-spring.SOWING : Sow seeds year-round in most locations avoiding extreme heat and cold. Natives can require a little more care than the average flowering perennial, but are well worth the effort. Sow on the surface of sandy soil, cover lightly, water and keep moist. A sprinkle of Mr Fothergill's seed starter granules will help move things along. Cover trays with clear plastic or glass to help retain moisture, remove once seedlings begin to emerge and place in a warm shady spot.
PLANTING : Water regularly while seedlings are germinating. Transfer seedlings at approximately 5cm high. Prefers free draining-sandy soil, sun and dry air - not really suitable for humid regions.
CARE : Water seedlings regularly until established and as the plants mature. Tolerates drought once established. Mulch plants to retain moisture in the soil and fertilise annually in spring using a native slow release fertiliser.
CONTENTS : 25 seeds
