Tolerant of a wide climate range, and growing naturally in sandy dry soils, this beautiful blue desert wildflower is perfect for trying in your Australian garden. It can stand Alaskan winters and Mexican summers so it should be able to come through a year down under.

Gilia capitata - Queen Anne's thimbles - seed

DESCRIPTION: Flowering annual from the USA, found naturally from Alaska to Mexico. Deep green ferny leaves, usually to around 60cm but may be much taller or smaller, depending on conditions. Deep blue rounded flowers, sometimes with blushes of white or pink.
PLANTING: Well-drained soil in full sun. Sow spring-summer in most locations, at around 20C, direct into final position; rake the soil over, keep moist until seedlings emerge.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established.
