Ginkgo biloba - 68mm BIGGER size
Ginkgos are unfeasibly ancient, a living fossil, with actual fossil ancestors dating back almost thre million years, and currently living relatives celebrating their three-thousand-plus birthdays. So plant this one with centuries of growth in mind.
It's a tall tree, eventually, over 25m of unique fan-shaped leaves, apple green in spring and transforming to a slender column of gold in autumn before they fall.
Europeans call it maidenhair tree, the Chinese called this beautiful tree duckfeet - take a look at those leaves and you'll see what they mean!
Ginkgos didn't get to be thousands of years old and not be tough as. They'll stand up to urban pollution, fight off insect attack, survive atomic bombs, and their wood is fire resistant.
