We fell in love with this one for the name alone; the oh-so-pretty leaf colour is the frosted silvery icing on the delicious raspberry cake.

It looks like it should be super-tender, needing featherdown pillows and warm gentle breezes, but like all heuchera it's surprisingly sturdy. A little dappled shade, and a little extra water in summer, and it's happy. If you love alternanthera but get frost, heucheras are a fantastic alternative.

Heuchera 'Pinky Panky' - coral bells

APPEARANCE : Dense, mounding herbaceous perennial with scalloped pale pink and grey varyingly-patterned leaves with raspberry-pink veins. Long slender stems topped with tiny bell-shaped flowers in mid-spring and summer. Note : young tubestock leaves will be pale green-pink-white and develop stronger darker colours as the plant matures.
USE FOR : Garden beds and borders, cottage and informal gardens, underplanting.
PLANTING : Plant in part sun to dappled or part shade in most moist but well-drained soils. Plant heucheras slightly proud of the soil, so the centre of the plant is raised above the soil level. Frost tolerant. Will need more watering in full sun or warmer gardens during summer to keep those leaves lush.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, and again each spring. Cut back any dead or untidy foliage in spring to make room for new growth, and give it fresh mulch.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 30 cm H x 25 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
