Hosta Guacamole lives up to its name with bright avocado-coloured leaves edged in deep emerald, adding fresh colour and texture to the garden.

In summer, tall stems carry soft lavender coloured, (very) fragrant blooms that fade to soft white, bringing a playful contrast above the foliage. Easy to grow and shade-loving, it’s a fun, leafy pick for brightening up beds or pots.

Description

Hosta plantaginea 'Guacamole' - plantain lily

APPEARANCE : Mostly grown for their foliage, hostas are attractive herbaceous perennials with a range of leaf shape and form. Guacamole has glossy apple-green leaves with dark green margins that brighten to gold in summer, topped with fragrant, flared pale lavender flowers on tall stems.
USE IN: Dappled shade, under trees in moist soils, border plants for cold-climate gardens, urban planters, cottage garden foliage colour.
PLANTING: Plant in a sheltered position, avoid direct sunlight. Happy in clay and loam, acid to neutral soils; enrich soils before planting with plenty of organic matter. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, and water during growth.
CARE: Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during growth to maintain plant health.
