Description

Hosta fortunei 'Minuteman' - plantain lily

APPERANCE : Mostly grown for their foliage, hostas are attractive herbaceous perennials with a range of leaf shape and form. Minuteman has deep green leaves edged in creamy white, with soft lavender blooms appearing through summer.
USE IN: Hostas grow best in dappled shade. Border plants for cold-climate gardens, urban planters, cottage gardens,.
PLANTING: Plant in a sheltered position, avoid direct afternoon sunlight. Happy in clay and loam, acid to neutral soils; enrich soils before planting with plenty of organic matter. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, and water during growth.
CARE: Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during growth to maintain plant health.
