Lavatera trimestris 'Silver Cup' - rose mallow, tree mallow
DESCRIPTION: Tall bushy annual plant, with lare trumpet-disc flowers, pale silvery-pink with deeper pink veins and centre. PLANTING: Sow seeds in Autumn at 18-20C directly into final position or into seed trays/pots. Cover with soil and keep moist. Thin plants once they develop 2-4 leaves and are easily handled. Plant in free draining soil in a sunny sheltered location for best flowering. Preparing garden beds with well composted manure will give the best results. CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. May need staking in more open locations. For an extra long flowering season, remove spent blooms and feed with liquid fertiliser.
