For such a compact shrub you sure do get a lot of colour right through the year!

Firm bold foliage is a soft blue-green, on strong upright pink-red stems.

Come the end of winter, and the flowers start to develop - a cup of golden-cream leaf-petals tipped in red surrounding the true flowers, a cone of glowing orange-red. That's where these plants get their common name of conebush!

The flowers are long-lasting on the plant and as cut flowers in a vase. Discolor is small enough to grow in pots, which is handy if your soil is alkaline.
