Luminous purple butterfly magnet that will shoot up tall fluffy flowerspikes that look fantastic in mixed borders and last well in bouquets. Once mature will come through the coldest of winters and the hottest humidest summers.
DESCRIPTION: Herbaceous perennial with tall fluffy purple spikes in the second year from seed. PLANTING: Sow in early Spring at around 20C into trays or direct onto soil. Press down gently or rake lightly, and keep moist. When large enought to handle transplant clumps of seedlings to final position, spacing well apart to allow for air flow. CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to retain moisture in the soil, liatris will grow in poor soils but much prefer rich ones in summer. Doesn't like wet winter feet though so good drainage is a must. For an extra long flowering season, remove spent blooms and feed with liquid fertiliser.
