Lomandra hystrix - mat rush
The wild native form. You love this plant and we can see why! It will grow in almost any climate, soil, location or situation. Almost zero maintenance, but some fertiliser will help it look its best.
Better in wet soils and humid locations than Lomandra longifolia. Use for erosion control, weed suppressing, mass planting, ground cover, feature planting, in pots. Grows to about 1m around; fantastic value landscaping.

Lomandra hystrix - mat rush
APPEARANCE : Compact fast growing large lomandra with fine grassy bright green foliage, longer and broader than most other lomandra, and yellow spiny flower spikes during spring. 'Hystrix' means spiny like a porcupine or echidna
USE FOR : Low maintenance filler plant. Erosion protection on banks and slopes. Massed planting and weed suppression. Native gardens for shelter, and revegetation projects.
CLIMATE : Hardy, tolerant of drought and frost.
PLANTING : Tolerates most soil types and planting conditions. OK in wet areas. Suited to large containers.
CARE : Needs almost no maintenance. Chop hard back every couple of years to refresh foliage if required. Foliage colour improves to a vibrant green with fertiliser.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 1 m H x 1 m W.
