Fast-growing Firecracker honeysuckle is a showy sweet-scented stunner of a plant, if you have the room for it. The spring-summer flowers are two-tone : strawberry in bud, opening to creamy-custard.
If you like hedge-clipping you can grow it in this way, with regular pruning; it's more uusally seen covering arbours, pergolas, chainlink fences, and climbing into large trees.

APPEARANCE: Vigorous deciduous climber, scented flowers arranged in rings that open with a tall fat petal above and a slender smaller one beneath.USE IN: Covering arbours and pergolas, training along fence lines and up large trees.
PLANTING: Plant in a sunny, open position in the garden with plenty of space to allow to climb. Any good garden soil is suitable. Grows in sun or part shade; cold hardy.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune after flowering to keep it in check. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 2-5m H x 1-2 m W.
