Lophostemon - Queensland brush box
Dense-growing tall Australian native tree with evergreen foliage and fluffy star-like flowers. Food plant for native red-eye or eastern dusk-flat butterflies. Suited to feature planting, creating shade, and garden planting in a big enough space.
They can get HUGE in sheltered rainforest settings; yet have been planted as street trees - notably in Sydney and Perth many years ago - where the councils allow for regular hard pruning. In an exposed coastal site they may only reach to hedge high.
