Vibrant conical clusters of pink buds open to pink-white flowers, like a bunch of grapes, and lasting months. They then transform into clusters of glossy deep purple-pink berries, for another season of colour. Very similar to our popular Medinilla myriantha, more variable in flower and berry colours.

Fast-growing, suited to pots indoors and out, tropical style gardens, and frost-free areas with good humidity. Grow it as you would an orchid.

Medinilla pendula - Malaysian orchid

APPEARANCE : Evergreen tropical plant with clusters of deep pink buds, paler pink flowers most of the year, which hang beneath a canopy of leaves.
PLANTING:  Plant in a well lit shaded position, avoiding harsh sunlight (early morning is fine). Great container plant under a balcony or indoors. Enjoy the cascading flowers overhanging the pot. Use a potting mix at a 50:50 ratio with orchid mix or sphagnum moss for really good drainage - avoid too large a pot or too much water.
CARE: Prune spent flowers to encourage dense growth habit and continued flowering. Prefers well drained soil, moderate watering and humidity. Use a hand held sprayer to moisten the leaves daily.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  1-1.5 m H x 1-2 m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
