DESCRIPTION: Mediterranean tree with spreading bushy crown, oval grey-green leaves which emerge apple green, medium-large green oval fruits that ripen to purple-black. Slow growing. USE IN: Shade tree, fruit tree, foliage plant. Perfect for sandy areas and poor soil. Suitable for large pots. LOCATION: A full sun to partly shaded position in the garden. Hardy shrub suited to most conditions nationwide, and coastal plantings. Needs two months of cold 0-10C to initiate fruits. Will tolerate light frost when mature. Prefers dry winters and wet summers so ideal for southern states. Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter. CARE: Easy if the climate is right for it.
