Olea europaea - olive 'Tolley's Upright'
DESCRIPTION: Slow-growing long-lived Mediterranean tree with silvery leaves. This variety bears few fruits, and has an upright central trunk.USE IN: Shade tree, foliage plant. Can be coppiced for a hedge. Suitable for large pots.
LOCATION: A full sun to partly shaded position in the garden. Hardy shrub suited to most conditions nationwide especially frost-free locations, and coastal plantings.Perfect for sandy areas and poor soil. . Will tolerate light frost when mature.
CARE: Easy if the climate is right for it. Mulch and water well during the first 12 weeks until the plant is established, prune after flowering to promote new growth and encourage bushiness not spindliness. For container-grown olives, repot if necessary during the growing season.
