Parthenocissus henryana - silver-vein creeper, Chinese creeper

APPEARANCE : Fast-growing, vigorous deciduous vine related to grapes; dark green leaves in spring-summer change to rich shades of red, orange, maroon in autumn before leaf fall in winter. Dark blue berries in autumn. You can tell this vine apart because of the silver-white stripe down the centre of each leaflet. RHS Award of Garden Merit
ORIGIN : Native to China
USE FOR : Autumn colour. Fast coverage of fences, arbours and pergolas. Groundcover down banks and slopes. Will shade and cool the interior when covering a house wall.
CLIMATE : Frost hardy. Will grow in full sun or full shade
PLANTING : Plant in any moist soil type, clay, sand, alkaline or acid. Silver vein creeper clings by tendrils with little suckers at the tips so is self-clinging. This means it is safe to plant on masonry or bricks. Take care when siting as this is a vigorous vine and will need room to grow.
CARE : Water regularly during the first 8-12 weeks until the plant is established, and especially during dry periods. Prune to maintain a tidy appearance or keep growth in check. The leaves can be an irritant to sensitive skin so if in doubt wear gloves when handling.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH :   8-12m H x 2-4m W.
