Graceful large ornamental grass, rich burgundy purple colour, with purple-cream fluffy foxtail plumes year-round. Low maintenance.

Looks best when given space to sway and move in the breeze, making a relaxing sound. Gets to over 1m around in the right spot so allow for this when planting.

Description

Pennisetum advena Rubrum - purple fountain grass

APPEARANCE : Large size grass with burgundy-maroon colour and a weeping form. Soft feathery plumes all year round.
USE FOR : Ideal plant for gardeners that wish to add colour, texture and movement to their landscape. The sound of the foliage moving in the wind is soft and relaxing.
PLANTING : Plant in well drained soil in full sun to part shade position in the garden. Deepest colour is achieved in a full sun location.This variety will tolerate a range of conditions, even frontline coastal, making it a versatile landscape addition.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune at least half of the foliage each spring to remove the previous years spent foliage. Tolerates dry periods once established.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 1-1.5m H x 1m W.
