Just like a ladybird (ladybug?) this cute red poppy has black spots on each petal (wing?) and will put on a smile on your face when you see it in your garden.

Papaver commutatum 'Ladybird' - ladybird poppy -

DESCRIPTION: Tall growing annual featuring red flowers with a large black spot on each petal. Plant as a border or mass plant for a spectacular display of flowering colour.
PLANTING: Autumn and Spring in cooler climates; Autumn-Winter in warm ones. Sow directly at 12-18C into garden beds or seed raising mix, apply a thin layer of soil, gently pat the soil down and keep moist. Transplant to a full sun location in free draining soil when plants are easily handled.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established. Prefers dry conditions once established. Remove spent flowers to encourage a longer flowering season. Add a slow release fertiliser on planting and follow up with liquid fertiliser when you water.
