Jet black poppies with masses of super-satiny petals to give it the look of a glamorous gothic peony rose. Would look stunning planted amongst pale pink and white flowers, or contrasting with hot orange and magenta blooms.
DESCRIPTION: Tall growing annual with large fully-double flowerheads in deep purple-black PLANTING: Autumn-winter in frost-free areas, autumn and spring in cooler regions at around 15C. Sow directly into garden beds, rake gently and keep moist. Transplant to a full sun location in well drained soil when plants are easily handled. CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established. Remove spent flowers - deadhead - to encourage a longer flowering season. Add a slow release fertiliser on planting and follow up with liquid fertiliser applied fortnightly for best results.
