This mint bush's parent can be a bit of a straggler, spreading low and wide, with pale lilac flowers in spring.

Purple Haze is mint bush after boot camp - it's bushier and denser, it stands up straight, the leaves are longer, and the flower colour is deeper.  At half a metre around, this sharp-dressed little native is compact enough for pots too.

Prostanthera denticulata 'Purple Haze' - rough mint bush

APPEARANCE : Bushy low and wide Australian native shrub with soft green menthol-scented foliage and masses of purple-lilac flowers during spring.
USE FOR : As a feature shrub, hedge, or in a mixed border. Suits cottage gardens, rockeries, planters, sensory spaces.
PLANTING : Prefers some shade from full sun in summer. Plant in free draining soil, the parent species grows in sandy gravelly soils in the wild. Will tolerate a light frost once established. Site it where you can brush past to enjoy the aromatic leaves.
CARE: Mulch and water well until established. Water during prolonged dry spells - prostanthera hate wet roots but wilt if they get too dry. Prune yearly by about one third after flowering to encourage new growth and a dense pleasing shape. Feed with a controlled release native fertiliser once a year after flowering or pruning.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 40-50cm x 50-75cm.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
