Tall bold biennial, treasured by herbalists for over two thousand years and still prized for essential oil. Lovely plant for cottage gardens as well as medicinal ones as it's frost-hardy, likes full sun, grows in most soils - and perennial where it's happy.

DESCRIPTION: Medium-tall herbacous perennial/biennial with large leaves and long spires of purple-lilac-pink-blue-cream flowers. PLANTING: Sow spring-summer at 25C, into trays or direct. When large enough to handle transplant to final position. CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. For an extra long flowering season, remove spent blooms and feed with liquid fertiliser.;
