Sweet box flowers are plant ninjas - almost invisible, easily unnoticed, until their powerful sweet fragrance creeps up on you and fills your nostrils with delight. When it's not flowering, Sarcoccoa is a handsome dark green hedging shrub that tolerates air pollution and dry shade, and provides an elegant backdrop to showy summer flowers.

APPEARANCE : Bushy evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves. Tiny, sweetly scented cream flowers in winter, followed by shiny red-black berries. To us it smells like designer-label moisturiser; see what you think!
USE FOR :  Hedging and screening, formal gardens and containers, winter gardens, urban street-side gardens, sensory gardens for its fragrance.
CLIMATE : Very frost hardy once established.
PLANTING : Plant in part shade to full shade in fertile moist soil. Will grow in dry shade; in sunny situations will need regular watering. Tolerates most soil types.
CARE : Mulch and water well when planting. Continue to water regularly for the first 12 weeks or until the plant is established. Fertilise during Spring and prune as required to maintain form.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2 m H x 1.5 m W.
